Over a period of 36 months REACT will develop and implement a series of activities geared towards Analysis, Training and Networking in order to meet its main objective of supporting HEIs in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam in strengthening their Research & Innovation capacities in Climate Change and regional cooperation capacities and regional cooperation.
 
ANALYSIS
  • Study Visits by Southeast Asian partners to EU partner institutions. A National Report will be produced for each country as a result, available on the project website.
  • In-depth empirical study and analysis on R&I in Climate Change and competence based learning in partner countries. The analysis results will be published as a report available on the project website.
 TRAINING
  • 5 Training of Trainers Modules for partners’ academic, research and management staff.
    • Module 1 "Supporting Research, Development & Innovation in Climate Change and related fields" on 30 October – 1 November 2017 in Luang Prabang (Laos), hosted by Souphanouvong University.
    • Module 2 "Tackling Climate Change" from 6 - 8 March 2018 in Kampong Cham (Cambodia), hosted by University of Heng Samrin Tboungkhmom.
    • Module 3 "Financing Climate Change Activities in Higher Education Institutions" from 9-11 July 2018 in Phnom Pen (Cambodia), hosted by Royal University of Agriculture.
    • Module 4 "Impacts of Climate Change on the Management of Natural Ecosystems and Resources" from 5-7 December 2018 in Vientiane (Laos), hosted by National University of Laos.
    • Module 5 "Climate Change Economy" from 25-27 March 2019 in Hue (Vietnam), hosted by Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry.
  • 2 National Training Sessions delivered by REACT national partners in each country for academic and research staff from HEIs around the country, to share and disseminate knowledge and skills acquired in the Training of Trainers modules.

NETWORKING
 
The REACT Research & Academic Units in Climate Change will be created in the partner HEIs, to offer to the academic community a support service in terms of Research, Development and Innovation with a special focus on Climate Change and related disciplines. They will also support academics to integrate R,D&I in Climate Change within the partners’ the study program offer.
These Units will be the main tool to foster national and regional cooperation among the different partners, as members of the REACT Network of Research & Academic Units in Climate Change. The Network will organise the following events:
  • 3 Regional Round Tables with researchers, authorities and stakeholders to foster discussion on the importance of R&I in Climate Change.
    • Regional RT 1 on November 3rd 2017 in Luang Prabang (Laos), hosted by Souphanouvong University.
    • Regional RT 2 in July 2018 (dates tbc) in Phnom Pen (Cambodia), hosted by Royal University of Agriculture.
    • Regional RT3 in September 2019 (dates tbc) in Ho Chi Minh, hosted by Ho Chi Minh University of Social Sciences and Humanities. 
  • 3 National Seminars in each country with national stakeholders to discuss the impact of R&I in Climate Change and identify actions to be taken.

  • International Climate Change Conference to bring together scholars and researchers in Climate Change, together with representatives from agencies that support Climate Change research and education to discuss research and sources of funding, from 19-20 September 2019 in Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam), hosted by Ho Chi Minh University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
